Ridging
When thatching, whatever material the roof is thatched with, the ridging is usually carried out using straw, particularly in southern England, although in other regions sedge grass is also used. Both are more pliable than reed to bend over the apex, and easier to cut into a pattern.
All our ridging is carried out using straw in 2 styles:
- Flush to coat which as its name suggests lays flush to the roof with no visible patterns cut into it
- Block cut in a number of different patterns
Please see our photos for examples.
