Matthew Holt Thatching Services is a family run business, which includes myself, Matthew, my son Barnaby and my partner Tracy.

I started my apprenticeship in Hampshire on leaving school in 1977. Some four years later in 1981 I completed my first solo roof.

In the 30 years since then my work has included many re-thatches, ridge repairs, new works and extensions. I have also won our National Society’s Best Thatched House Award.

I have worked extensively throughout Southern England including Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire, and as far north as Herefordshire. I have even thatched as far afield as South Carolina, USA.

My son Barnaby is now progressing through his apprenticeship, and Tracy is in charge of the computer(!), and subsequently much of our admin work.
